frustration

1. When I give professional advice and people ignore it. Then they pay thousands for an expert who tells them exactly the same thing and they listen. No apologies for ignoring me though.

2. People who consider autism to be a defect and therefore treat us with disparagement or patronise us.

3. Trying to get people to understand that autism supports and accommodations need to be informed by people with autism. They seem to be stunned that we could possibly have any understanding about our own experiences. Even worse, many autism support bodies have no understanding that they discriminate against people with autism. The whole nomination for committees process is discriminatory. If people do not have friends, how can they be nominated? if people do not cope well with auditory information, how can they be expected to attend without visual supports? A huge amount of expertise is lost because people on the autism spectrum have to conform and make all the effort to fit in, where a little thought would make life much easier.

4. Frustration with myself for getting so frustrated and not being able to settle for slooooooww progress in achieving acceptance and an autism aware community.
